Marble Falls city officials and staff, including Mayor Richard Westerman and Downtown Coordinator Erin Burks, are backing the event. Other participating Main Street shops include Trendy B Boutique, Eve Couture, and Marta Stafford Fine Arts. Ms Lollipop Parties, Fun & Gifts will sell costume items such as lederhosen and dirndl dresses. Musicians will perform live polka and Bavarian music throughout the day.īratwursts, pretzels, schnitzels, and other traditional foods will be served at the shop and neighboring stores, including Texas Elite Meat, Rae’s RBar & Grill, and Sugar Mama Cookies. Over time, the celebration made its way to Texas towns and cities, especially those with German origins, such as Fredericksburg, Watson explained.
Oktoberfest is an annual celebration of Bavarian culture, originating in Germany more than 200 years ago. Justin Watson, a manager at The Ragtime Oriole, is working with other Main Street merchants to bring the German-style festival to the downtown area Oct. Oktoberfest is on its way to Marble Falls.
